Givenchy’s Muse

Today ThEye gives you an insight on a true love story between an historic Fashion House and an actress. Several stars of the cinema have been the favourite icons of brands such as Chanel, YSL, Dior and more, recognizing in their sparkling light an opportunity to expand their popularity and show their amazing collections. This is the case of Audrey Hepburn and Hubert de Givenchy who worked side by side to create dreams.

ll began in a Parisian atelier in 1953. The couturier was supposed to meet Katharine Hepburn but for a twist of fate, another Hepburn, less famous, but still charming, arrived. After a serious and long dinner, Hubert accepted to design the costumes of her movies. Did you have any doubts?

It is absolutely understandable since the actress was so elegant and talented. And she was captivated too always wearing Givenchy from head to toe.

So the love story started. The designer and the actress became inseparable. The collaboration was on everyone’s lip, as supported by the number of photos portraying the couple on set or for special occasions, such as fashion parties and private events. No tired of the charm of Audrey, Givenchy dedicated her a perfume too, L’Interdit, consecrating her role as official muse of the House as happened with Marylyn Monroe with Chanel n.5.

But the legendary elegance of Audrey Hepburn was all in her attitude and kindness, as she said:

“The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows & the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.”

Love you Audrey. If you love her as we do, take note: there is a documentary about Hepburn's life called 'Audrey' that is coming out soon on Netflix!

Now, it’s time to discover some looks by Givenchy made to measure for her! We choose the total black!
